Ramsay Health Care will transform part of the former Epping Quarry site into a premier, purpose-built private hospital, providing a range of services across medical, surgical and mental health care.
Located in New Epping, 18km north of Melbourne’s CBD, the hospital will be commissioned in early 2024, with further expansion of the hospital to occur over the next 5 years.
This ambitious expansion program is critical to support the rapid growth and high demand in the northern suburbs of Melbourne, and to support the co-located 500-bed Northern Hospital.
An approval for the construction of the Northern Private Hospital has been issued by the State Government and an Approval in Principal (AIP) has been issued by the Department of Health and Human Services.
The long-term vision of the hospital includes an Emergency Department, additional Operating Theatres and Cath Lab, an Intensive Care Unit and additional ward beds. It will be complemented by Ramsay Health Care’s Out-Of-Hospital Services.
Designed to offer the local community and surrounds the option of quality private health care close to home, Northern Private Hospital is a welcome addition to Melbourne’s northern suburbs growth corridor.
Northern Private Hospital will be one of only a few Victorian hospitals to achieve the 4-Star equivalency rating in line with GBCA’s Green Star Design and As-Built rating tool.
As part of Ramsay Health Care’s commitment to sustainability, the Northern Private Hospital will follow an environmentally conscious pathway from the early concept, design and construction phases through to opening, operation and beyond. The facility has been designed to mitigate risks from climate change and limit global warming impacts in both in design and operation. It will incorporate recycled materials, solar power, energy efficient lighting, and fixtures, fittings and appliances designed for water conservation and energy efficiency.
