Dr Asrar ul Haq is an experienced Consultant Cardiologist with a clinical focus in Interventional Cardiology, and Associate Professor of Medicine at The University of Melbourne. His training involves experience in the United Kingdom where he worked in the prestigious hospitals of Bristol Royal Infirmary and Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. In Australia he trained at the Austin and Northern Health in Melbourne and Fiona Stanley Hospital in Perth.
He completed his Doctorate at the University of Melbourne with a research project in early Echocardiographic assessment of Heart Failure with Preserved Ejection Fraction.
A/Prof Asrar ul Haq is experienced in all types of angioplasties and coronary interventional procedures through both femoral and radial access. He has an interest in the trans-radial approach. A master of his innovative techniques, he has helped establish radial programs in Australian hospitals and is frequently invited to deliver lectures internationally.
He has a clinical interest in complex angioplasties including left main PCI and rotational atherectomy, as well as intracoronary imaging and physiology assessment using state-of-the-art technologies such as OCT, IVUS and FFR. He performs IVUS guided stent procedures without using contrast in kidney patients.
