Dr Ross Apostolov is a consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist who graduated from Monash University in 2009 and Deakin University in 2013, where he received academic prizes including achieving the highest mark in internal medicine. He completed training as a physician and gastroenterologist through Austin Health, Northern Health and Eastern Health, where he has undertaken numerous clinical, academic, leadership and mentoring roles.
Dr Apostolov consults on inpatients and outpatients with gastroenterological problems and provides inpatient peri-operative and general medical care at Ramsay Warringal Private Hospital and Northern Private Hospital. He additionally works as a gastroenterologist at Austin Health and Northern Health.
Dr Apostolov has a keen interest in research and is currently undertaking a part-time PhD degree through Austin Health and University of Melbourne, exploring the link between low testosterone levels and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease in men. Dr Apostolov was awarded a competitive scholarship through the National Health and Medical Research Council Postgraduate Scholarship for his PhD. His research has culminated in numerous publications in international medical journals.
Dr Apostolov is committed to providing evidence based, empathetic and individualised care to all patients. He has an interest in all aspects of liver disease, particularly non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, as well as inflammatory bowel diseases, iron deficiency anaemia, gastroesophageal reflux disease, gastroscopy and colonoscopy.
Outside of work he enjoys running, playing tennis and spending time with his children. Dr Apostolov is happy to discuss patients with General Practitioners or other specialists.
