Dr Bassem Dawood completed his specialist training in respiratory and sleep medicine at Frankston Hospital, the Austin Hospital, and the Northern Hospital. He attained Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP).
Dr Dawood currently practises as a respiratory physician at Northern Health and holds an Honorary position at the Austin Hospital. He also has admitting rights at Northern Private Hospital.
He is the medical director of Sleep and Lung Care, a private group providing respiratory and sleep medicine services at multiple locations across Victoria.
Dr Dawood manages a range of respiratory conditions, including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), bronchiectasis and interstitial lung disease (ILD). He is also involved in the diagnosis and management of sleep-related disorders.
He participates in the lung cancer service at Northern Health, with a clinical focus on early detection and surveillance. His procedural work includes interventional bronchoscopy, such as endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) for sampling of lung lesions and lymph nodes.
Dr Dawood is a member of the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand (TSANZ), the European Respiratory Society (ERS), and the American Thoracic Society (ATS).
He is fluent in English and Arabic.
