Yes, you can choose from any of the participating specialists and if you have no preference, we will allocate one for you based on your requested timing of surgery and availability of surgeon.

You will be covered for any included and directly related clinical complication treatment costs that can be treated at the Northern Private Hospital and that arise within 28 days following your initial procedure. This includes the cost of readmission, critical care management or additional bed days at the Northern Private Hospital that are deemed necessary by your treating specialist and are directly related to your initial self-funded surgery. Please note that exclusion apply.

Schedule of Exclusions for complications:

The Package Price does not cover treatment costs associated with any complications, readmissions, or extended hospital stays at Northern Private Hospital (whether or not directly related to the procedure) that, in the opinion of the Hospital, arise from:

  1. Pre-existing Medical Conditions:
    • Any pre-existing medical condition prior to date of surgery
  1. Patient Non-Compliance
    • Failure to follow pre-operative or post-operative instructions including;
    • Self-discharge against medical advice;
    • Non-attendance at scheduled follow-up appointments;
    • Use of non-prescribed medications or substances that interfere with recovery including alcohol and tobacco if medically advised.

Payment is required prior to your admission, based on your estimate. We offer flexible, secure payment options including credit card, EFTPOS, and bank transfer.

From Aug 26th 2025 in-person payments by credit card will incur a small surcharge of 0.89%. Payments made by debit/Eftpos, cash, direct debit, or online via the Ramsay Health Hub will not incur a surcharge.

If you are Medicare eligible, you will be entitled to claim Medicare for specialist included in the package. The specialist will claim these on your behalf, and you should receive rebate back in your nominated bank account listed with Medicare. If you haven't received refund after 30 days, you can follow up the admin team to see if the claim has been submitted.

If any additional procedures are required that are not directly caused by initial procedure, additional costs will apply. A new IFC will be issued.

Yes, you'll need a referral from your GP to book treatment. This helps ensure your care is clinically appropriate and properly planned. Please obtain a referral for your preferred specialist, or an open referral from your GP if you do not have a preferred specialist, from the list of participating specialists.

Yes, you can cancel prior to the surgery and receive a refund – just give as much notice as possible. Alternatively, you can reschedule to a more suitable date.

If you obtain private health insurance after being admitted, it usually won't cover your current admission as preclusion periods apply. You should confirm coverage with your insurer before admission if you plan to use private health insurance.

Currently, we do not offer in-house payment plans. We recommend that you seek financial advice to see what is right for you. Patients may be eligible to apply for the early release of superannuation on compassionate grounds to cover the cost of medically necessary treatment.

This process is managed by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) and is subject to strict eligibility criteria and supporting documentation requirements. We recommend reviewing the guidelines on the ATO website to determine eligibility and understanding the application steps.

Please note that approval is not guaranteed, and the process is external to Ramsay. We are happy to provide any required supporting documentation related to your request.
