Dr Pianta is a Nephrologist by training, He obtained his PhD examining diagnostic tests for acute kidney injury (AKI) and delayed graft function (DGF) leading and collaborating in clinical and animal studies. He has also conducted collaborative clinical research examining systemic complications of chronic kidney disease (CKD) including myocardial ischaemia and neurological disease including RCTs and observational studies. These nationwide collaborations continue.
Dr Pianta teaches the MD course at Northern Clinical School University of Melbourne as a Senior Lecturer and clinical skills coach. He also supervises, teaches, and examines (RACP) physician trainees, nursing and allied health colleagues, and other doctors-in-training.
Timothy is a consultant physician (in Nephrology, General Medicine and Obstetric Medicine) at Northern Health. He has established a follow-up clinic for Acute Kidney Injury with research embedded into the structure. He aims to also continue to develop and implement the CKD Supportive Care Pathway for patients with advanced CKD.
