Project Scope

Ramsay Health Care has transformed part of the former Epping Quarry site and has built a premier, private hospital providing a range of services across medical and surgical.

Approval for the construction of the Northern Private Hospital was issued by the State Government and an Approval in Principal (AIP) issued by the Department of Health and Human Services. Practical completion of the hospital was finalised in September 2023, ahead of schedule. First patients were onsite on 5 February 2024.

Further expansion of the hospital will occur over the next five years. This ambitious expansion program is critical to support the rapid growth and high demand in the northern suburbs of Melbourne, and to support the co-located 500-bed Northern Hospital.

Stage 2

• Additional 36 overnight beds and 2 Operating Theatres
• Proposed to open in 2027 or deemed when necessary.

Stage 3

• 12 space Emergency Department with 2 resuscitation bays.
• 2 Theatres, 1 Cath Lab, 8 bed ICU, 3 CCU and 100 Medical/Surgical beds.
• Proposed to open in 2030 to 2032 or deemed when necessary.
